You’ve put in the hard work, created your manuscript or business proposal, and want the best version to appear in public – but how do you make sure it is the best version?
You come to us for a professional proofreading and/or copy editing service.
Proofreading: We will search out any spelling, grammar, punctuation, or typographical errors, making sure that your work reads well. All you need to do is concentrate on your creativity!
Copy Editing: Sit back and relax as we edit for sentence structure, word choice, tone, and style. If you have written a book, we’ll also take a good look at your plot: does it read well and make sense, have you switched from first to third person midway, or are there any loose ends that need to be tied up? We check the dialogue and characterisation and make helpful suggestions throughout the body of your work.
We won’t rewrite your document! You have complete creative control.
We’d be delighted to offer you a quotation for our services. To help us do so, tell us the title, subject/genre, approximate word count, format (preferably Microsoft Word, 12pt TNR, 1.5 line spacing), and any preferred deadline for completion of the work. (We may ask you for a sample chapter of the project.)
Please tell us if your project has already been through any editorial processes (e.g. beta reading, professional structural editing, or professional copy-editing).
We will comb through your work and, using both Track Changes and Comments to assist, will let you know exactly what needs to be done to polish it up. If you are a small business, this service will prove invaluable – if you are sending out brochures, quotes, or publications about your business and there are any errors, people will be put off approaching you. Your public face is vital, and you only have one chance to make a good first impression. We can also check your website for spelling, punctuation, and grammar errors.
Students: Jill Merle is our official proofreader for both the University of Essex and the University of East Anglia (UEA). Please contact her via the details provided on the University websites.
